Joan & Austin

Joan's Farm & Pumpkin Patch is an "Unforgettable Family Exerience". The Pumpkin Patch was established in 1990 amid a grove of centuries-old Sycamore trees and is located four miles south of downtown Livermore by Mocho Creek. This unique "Oasis" on Mines Road is also a true working Cattle Ranch raising Angus and Hereford Cattle. The ranch comes to life in October when the entire emphasis is on the Pumpkin Patch. Guests are invited to enjoy and feed the animals, find their way through the maze, pan for gem stones, play in the play area, walk arond the old western town and envision living 100 years ago. Don't forget to visit Fort Maze, tour the antique farm equipment museum, eat until your heart's content at Joan's Cafe, or select your "sweet treat" at the Sweet and Treat building. Of course there are a variety of many pumpkins to choose from as well as different types of winter squash, Indian Corn, gourds, and more.

This is an experience you won't want to miss. We are open daily from 9 am - 5:30 pm, October 1 - 31. Parking is free. A minimal fee is charged for the various activities and, of course, for the pumpkins, etc. Cash or check only - no credit cards - ATM available. No dogs or alcohol are allowed.

Directions: Take the North Livermore Avenue exit off 580, go south through Livermore about five miles, turn right on Mines Road, go 1.4 miles to Joan's Farm.

This is truly an opportunity for the entire family to build lasting memories. Don't forget your camera! Looking forward to meeting you!

School and group tours offer entertainment and hands-on experience with crops and farm animals.

Two Tours Available for Schools/Groups

Tour 1: Recommended for children preschool through 1st Grade. Tour 1 includes a lesson on the "Life Cycle of a Pumpkin", story-telling, a sing-along, and a discussion about the farm. Also included is a cup of feed for the animals and their pumpkin from the "student" patch, and their choice of either a mini-pumpkin or a gourd to go along with their pumpkin. Cost of Tour 1 is $9.00.

Tour 2: Recommended for Grades 1 through 5. A lesson on "How Corn Grows" and "All the Buzz on the Honeybee". Included is a talk about the farm and agriculture as we knew it years ago versus today (this can include a tour through our Museum of old equipment). Learn about farm animals and their value both as food and as a source of often surprising by-products. Take a trip through our corn maze and enjoy walking around the Old West Town. Feed the farm animals, get your pumpkin from the designated pumpkin patch, and choose either a mini-pumpkin or a gourd. Cost of Tour 2 is $10.00.

For reservations please call Joan at (925) 447-0794. You may talk to an answering machine, but please leave your name and number (both day and evening). Reservations are made on a "first come, first serve basis." A cancellation fee of $1.00/child applies when less than 48 hours notice is provided -- this covers the cost of the child's pumpkin which still may be picked up.

Facilities available for Birthday Parties and Company Picnics during the month of October only.
